The Second International Workshop on Flora of Pan-Himalaya had hold on 13 December 2010 at Kathmandu, Nepal.
The workshop was jointly held by Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tribhuvan University of Nepal as a session of “International Conference on Biodiversity, Livelihood and Climate Change in the Himalayas”. About 37 botanists from UK, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, India, Nepal, ICIMOD and China participated in the workshop.
HONG Deyuan, the coordinator of the project provided an introduction overview of the project of Flora of Pan-Himalayas，FLPH and the progress in 2010. Dr. Xiao-hua Jin, You-sheng Chen and Xian-chun Zhang respectively introduced the geographic range of the Flora, plant of Pan-Himalayas and guidelines for the preparation of the Flora. The workshop reached a consensusfinally and signed a Memorandum on the Flora of Pan-Himalayas.
This workshop will lay a good foundation of internationally promoting the editorial and research of Flora of Pan-Himalayas, also it is very important to gain recognition and support from neighboring countries.In addition, the workshop suggested a joint field expedition to Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan in near future. Two teams planned to be arranged to Myanmar and Nepal in 2011.
